The Starkville Police Department is investigating a Friday morning shooting that resulted in a woman being airlifted to a hospital outside of the area to be treated for gunshot wounds.
The SPD said on Friday at 6:58 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at Sandhill Arms apartments at 135 Sand Road, off of Louisville Street.
A release from the department said an adult female with gunshot wounds was transported to OCH Regional Medical Center by Pafford EMS, where she was immediately flown out of the area for further medical treatment.
Investigators believe the shooting to be domestic in nature.
The incident remains under active investigation and no arrests or suspects have been announced at this time.
