A Starkville teenager has been arrested in connection with a Friday morning shooting of a woman at a residence on Sand Road.

The Starkville Police Department said in a media release Friday afternoon that it has charged 17-year-old Cornelius Hendrix with attempted murder for the shooting at Sandhill Arms apartments at 135 Sand Road, off of Louisville Street.

The SPD said on Friday at 6:58 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at Sandhill Arms apartments and said an adult female with gunshot wounds was transported to OCH Regional Medical Center by Pafford EMS, where she was immediately flown out of the area for further medical treatment.

The victim's condition and name have not been released at this time, but investigators believe the incident to be domestic in nature.

Hendrix was transported to the Oktibbeha County Jail and his bond was set at $250,000.

The Starkville Police Department is investigating a Friday morning shooting that resulted in a woman being airlifted to a hospital outside of the area to be treated for gunshot wounds.

The SPD said on Friday at 6:58 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at Sandhill Arms apartments at 135 Sand Road, off of Louisville Street.

A release from the department said an adult female with gunshot wounds was transported to OCH Regional Medical Center by Pafford EMS, where she was immediately flown out of the area for further medical treatment.

Investigators believe this incident to be domestic in nature.

The incident remains under active investigation and no arrests have been announced at this time.
