Mississippi State track and field

Chris Woods, left, was announced as the head coach of the Mississippi State track and field program on Friday.

A highly successful first year leading the Mississippi State track program, which included helping the men’s team to their highest point total at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in school history earlier this month, has paid off for Chris Woods.

The interim tag was taken off of Woods title on Friday and was announced as the head coach of the men’s and women’s Mississippi State track and field program.

After conducting a national search for the next head coach, Bulldog Athletic Director John Cohen realized that the right fit was already in place.
