It was just last year when the East Webster Wolverines hosted a home playoff game, but this year is different.
This year, the Wolverines earned themselves a home playoff game for the first round. They put together one of the best regular seasons in the program in years at 9-1 and are 3-1 in Class 2A, Region 2, which got them a host for the first round against Potts Camp Friday.
It starts a journey that East Webster coach Ron Price has been working towards since he arrived In Cumberland three years ago, and that is one to the state championship.
“We finished 9-1, the two seed in the division and got a guaranteed home playoff game,” Price said. “If you would have told me that I’d have all of that in August, I probably would have signed the contract right there. I’m very proud of this football team. They’ve grown every week and stood up to every challenge that’s been ahead of them.”
