East Webster football

East Webster’s Tyrik Pittman (32) looks to make a block as Debo Patterson secures the football.

MABEN – There were a couple of reasons East Webster could’ve been primed for a letdown on Thursday night against J.Z. George.

It was homecoming night for the Wolverines. The festivities of the week sometimes leads to distractions. Plus, it had been only six days since East Webster suffered a disappointing loss at Calhoun City. There was a chance for a hangover effect.

In the end, none of that mattered. East Webster did what it’s done so many times already this season and came out ready to play. The Wolverines rolled to a 41-6 win over the Jaguars. It was a satisfying evening for East Webster to overcome all the intangibles and get back to business as usual, particularly after suffering the speed bump in Calhoun City a week ago.
