Old Waverly Golf Course

A lake is one of the beautiful backdrops to a green at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, which is the host of the 119th U.S. Women’s Amateur this week.

WEST POINT – Some of the best women’s amateur golfers in the country hit the course at Old Waverly Golf Club starting Monday to compete in the 119th U.S. Women’s Amateur.

A starting field of 156 players begin first round stroke play today after practice rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Old Waverly will be set up at 6,502 yards and will play to a par of 36-36--72.

For many of the participants, it’s their first time playing Old Waverly.

SMU golfer Kennedy Pedigo from Fort Worth, Texas, became a fan right away.

“I love it,” Pedigo said. “It’s such a beautiful course. It’s in perfect condition and it’s lovely to be in Mississippi.”
