Tommy Stevens has won over his head coach.
The new Mississippi State quarterback has apparently won over his teammates as well, as he was elected as a team captain by a large margin. Now, it’s time to see if Stevens can do what his main job is – win football games.
Stevens will make his first career start Saturday at 11 a.m. when Mississippi State begins its 2019 football season with a game against Louisiana at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
It’s a big stage for the once-Penn State player to make his Bulldog debut. All eyes will be on Stevens to see if he can be the missing piece to truly make head coach Joe Moorhead’s offensive style click after the Bulldogs sputtered at times offensively a season ago.
