Starkville High School volleyball coach Sierra Horel approves of a point during the match against New Hope.

Junior Jakailyn Brown doesn’t speak with a loud voice on the volleyball court for the Starkville Lady Yellow Jackets.

However, her kill at the end of Tuesday night’s match against the New Hope Trojans made a emphatic statement.

Brown struck the volleyball with force for the winning point in Starkville’s 3-0 win over the New Hope Lady Trojans in the first athletic event held at the new and improved Jacket Nest.

The final kill was one of 10 for Brown as she has made an effort to improve her game in many areas on and off the court this fall.
