HOUSTON – It wasn’t until pregame that Choctaw County’s all-around athlete Kendall Coleman Jr. got the news.
Starting quarterback Tylan Carter has been dealing with an ankle injury the last two weeks and he wasn’t ready to go in the season’s biggest game against Class 3A, Region 4 contenders Houston.
The Hilltoppers have been ranked around the top spot in Class 3A all season and the Chargers were going to have to find a way to grind it out on the road without their starting quarterback.
Coleman gladly accepted that challenge.
From the opening kickoff, Coleman was ready. The senior took that opening kick to the end zone and the Chargers never trailed in a game that showed the grit and determination that the senior leader and the rest of his teammates have as they reeled off a huge win on the road 24-12.
