Juli Inkster celebrates her U.S. Women's Open Championship win at Old Waverly Golf Club in 1999.

WEST POINT – Being back at Old Waverly Golf Club has brought back pleasant memories this week for Juli Inkster.

Inkster, who is a part of the FS1 television crew covering the 119th U.S. Women’s Amateur, returned to the site where she won the U.S. Women’s Open 20 years ago.

Not much has changed about Old Waverly since Inkster lifted the trophy for one of the biggest majors in the sport and she said that’s a good thing.

“It’s really just a homie feeling,” Inkster said. “Everybody is so nice from the Bryans all way down to the staff. They just treat you like they are part of the family. That’s something I remember.

“The golf course is great and I love the golf course. I have very fond memories of playing here. It’s great to see that it hasn’t changed much. All of these young ladies are really enjoyed playing it too.”
