They call him Big Hit Mac.
However, for the last couple of weeks, Mississippi State right fielder Elijah MacNamee hasn’t been in any shape to deliver clutch knocks as he’s been recovering from what head coach Chris Lemonis described as a crack in MacNamee’s left foot. Things could get back to normal this weekend though.
With the Starkville Regional set to open up at Dudy Noble Field on Friday, the Bulldogs are optimistic MacNamee will return to the lineup for the first time since May 12.
“He’s very eager,” MSU first baseman Tanner Allen said of MacNamee. “That’s a big bat in the middle of the lineup that we need. Everybody saw what he could do last year in postseason play. Obviously, getting him back is going to help us a lot and we’re all ready for him.”
