Starkville Academy football

One of the best moments in Starkville Academy football history was celebrated in a rain storm with a state championship accomplished in 2017. With rain in the forecast for today, the Volunteers don’t mind one bit if they get a little wet during the game at Bayou Academy in Cleveland.

Rain may be falling Friday night in parts of Mississippi, but the Starkville Academy Volunteers embrace that type of scenario.

With it being the first-ever believed meeting on the football field for Starkville Academy and Bayou Academy, a little bit of inclement weather is not going to put a damper on the trip into the Mississippi Delta for the Vols.

Starkville Academy and Bayou Academy chose not to move the Class 5A-District 1 game to Thursday as many other schools did around the state after considering the forecast.

The Vols are ready for whatever the conditions bring and never approached the Colts about a change.
