Warren Central football is a lifeblood for the Morgan family and the Morgan’s are the heartbeat of Warren Central.
Robert Morgan started it all way back in the 1980’s when he led the Vikings to two state championships. He first took home the state crown in 1988 and again in 1994. Along the way, he produced three Mississippi State football players in Rob, Josh and Brett. Coaching football has continued with all three.
Josh took over as head coach of Warren Central in 2010, which was a decade after his playing days as a Bulldog safety ended. His first two teams won three games total. Since that time, the Vikings have had one losing season in the last eight years and have won eight or more games five times.
That losing season came last year when the Vikings were rebuilding a bit and went 5-6. They’ve already started this year 6-3 and they’re 4-1 in Class 6A, Region 2 play with a chance to win the division still up for grabs if they can beat Starkville on Friday and have things fall just right for them.
