Tra McComb was learning the ropes last year as a sophomore for the Eupora Eagles and he was content in his role as the more established players ahead of him were making all of the plays.
Being utilized mostly in the backfield on offense, McComb rushed for 436 yards and six touchdowns as he helped the Eagles get to the second round of the playoffs, but those players ahead of him are now gone and he’s the guy. It made for a change of approach in the summer for he and his coach Stephen Edwards to prepare him to be a bigger piece of things if the Eagles were to win big games this year.
“He was just young and made plays here and there,” Edwards said. “It just wasn’t his time."
