It didn’t take long for Starkville High School quarterback Luke Altmyer to put the Brandon loss behind him.
The first play of the game for the Yellow Jackets in the next game against the Oxford Chargers went for 17 yards from Altmyer to his top target Rufus Harvey. He then threw a 7-yard pass to Harvey and rushed for 8 yards himself.
By the end of the drive, Altmyer had driven SHS 85 yards down the field on nine plays with ease capped off by a 23-yard strike to Tae Lucious. Altmyer finished the drive 6-for-7 for 68 yards and his team had a 7-0 lead.
That was just the beginning for Altmyer on a career day as the Jackets won 45-17 and kept the Little Egg Bowl trophy with a victory over the Chargers. Altmyer came in ready to forget the defeat to Brandon in week one and it showed for four quarters.
