Keyshawn Lawrence and his teammates had been hearing it from all around the state.
The narrative was that Olive Branch had one of the state’s best defenses and It was out to make some noise last Friday night when it played Starkville in the playoffs. The Conquistadors had been good against just about everyone this season and took down one of Class 6A, Region 2’s own Madison Central the week before.
Lawrence and his teammates took offense to the Olive Branch defense getting all of the love. The Yellow Jackets gave up an early field goal to the Conquistadors, but didn’t surrender another point as they gave up 1 passing yard and 2.4 yards per rush in the win that sent them to the North State championship.
