WEST POINT – Mississippi State freshman Ashley Gilliam was in her element.
It was only about a couple of months ago in August that Gilliam was on the course at Old Waverly playing in the U.S. Women Amateur.
Gilliam was competing with some of the best amateur golfers in the world under the heat and humidity of the Mississippi sun so there was something to be learned from that experience.
On Monday and Tuesday, the conditions were much different as Gilliam and the Bulldogs experienced rain and cooler temperatures.
However, the course didn’t change and Gilliam was able to work her way to a third-place tie individually and helped Mississippi State to second as a team at the Magnolia Invitational.
