Mississippi State women's basketball

Mississippi State head women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer, middle, talks about the World University Games.

Early Wednesday morning as residents around Starkville began to wake and prepare themselves for an afternoon of spending time with family around a pool or a grill and anticipating a night sky of fireworks, Mississippi State was being represented overseas.

The World University Games has a maroon and white tint to it this year as the MSU women’s basketball team was selected to represent the country against some of the best players in the world in Naples, Italy. It’s the second-straight year that the Bulldogs have made the trip to Italy but this one is far different from the last.
