Army coach Jeff Monken, left, and Fordham coach Joe Moorhead shake hands after Fordham's 37-35 win over Army on Sept. 4, 2015.

Nowadays, Mississippi State’s Joe Moorhead has one of the premier head coaching jobs in the country as the leader of a school in arguably the nation’s best football conference.

However, it wasn’t all that long ago that Moorhead was the head man at Fordham. Moorhead built the Rams into a Football Championship Subdivision powerhouse. Fordham reached the FCS playoffs in three straight years under Moorhead.

Over Moorhead’s four seasons with the Rams, he earned the school’s first two wins over FBS schools in program history. Moorhead knows all about being with an FCS school and taking down an upper-level program. It’s why he refuses to take this Saturday’s MSU game against Abilene Christian lightly. He’s all too familiar with the attitude the Wildcats will bring to Starkville.
