Mississippi State’s last two baseball seasons have been full of changes.
Since the start of the 2018 season, the Bulldogs have had three different head coaches. Despite all the adjusting, MSU has made two straight trips to the College World Series. A big reason for the continued success has been the consistent presence of assistant coach Jake Gautreau. Now, Gautreau has been honored for his contributions.
D1Baseball selected Gautreau as its National Assistant Coach of the Year on Tuesday. He’s been the glue behind MSU’s last two trips to Omaha and while a lot of Gautreau’s work has come behind the scenes, State head coach Chris Lemonis knows the value of having Gautreau around.
