Mississippi State wide receiver Osirus Mitchell (5) celebrates a touchdown with teammates last season.

Mississippi State lost some production from a year ago with the graduation of Stephen Guidry and Deddrick Thomas, but the group should be significantly better in 2020. It has to be.

Leach will require his receivers to put up some big numbers this year but he’ll also use a lot of the roster and spread the wealth. That includes the tight ends who will work more as receivers in this offense and be in the mix.

Starting on the outside, new outside receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. has a lot to work with in his group. The top returning receiver is senior Osirus Mitchell, who has improved his numbers each season. He had five catches as a freshman, 26 as a sophomore and 29 last season for career highs in receiving yards (430) and touchdowns (six) as well. Those numbers could double this year the way that Leach throws it around and Mitchell will be counted on to make some big plays.
