Mississippi State will surely be glad to regain the services of its slugging right fielder Elijah MacNamee once MacNamee recovers from the cracked bone in his left foot.
While the Bulldogs wait on MacNamee to heal over the next couple of weeks though, Josh Hatcher is giving MacNamee no reason at all to rush back.
Hatcher connected for a pair of homers on Friday night, including the go-ahead shot in the seventh inning, to help push No. 5 MSU to an 11-2 victory over South Carolina. Hatcher’s first blast was a solo job that broke a 2-2 tie. He then added a two-run bomb – the longest homer hit by a Bulldog all year at 411 feet – to dead center an inning later.
