Mississippi State baseball

Mississippi State is moving closer and closer towards locking down a national seed for this year’s NCAA Baseball Tournament and on Tuesday night, MSU kept doing what it has done all year to inch even nearer to its goal.

No. 5 State wrapped up the non-conference portion of its 2019 schedule on Tuesday with a 7-3 win over Louisiana Tech. The victory improved MSU to 43-10 overall this season, including an impressive 25-1 mark in non-conference play – a key factor in almost assuring that Mississippi State’s entire postseason run towards the College World Series will be hosted at Dudy Noble Field.

The only non-conference game MSU lost all season came way back on February 22. That’s the day Southern Miss – then a nationally-ranked team – topped State 1-0 in extra innings. MSU of course followed that up with 21 straight non-conference victories, capped by Tuesday’s triumph. State was undefeated in midweek games this year, going 15-0 in such contests.
