Starkville High School boys basketball player Trey Jackson will get to experience what college life is like for a couple of days next week.
Jackson will be attending the NCAA Basketball Academy in Houston, Texas, and is only one of two players from Mississippi to get the opportunity. There will be around 300 players attending the camp.
“I want to represent my state and try to show what Mississippi has to offer in basketball,” Jackson said.
The camp is a new recruiting tool for Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and NAIA college coaches. It will be the only time between July 23-28 that coaches can evaluate high school players because it’s dead week. Since the event is NCAA sanctioned, many of the coaches will be there.
