Former Mississippi State defensive end Montez Sweat cast a big shadow a season ago.
Sweat, who was taken in the first round of the National Football League Draft by the Washington Redskins this past April, was opposing offenses’ worst nightmare last year. He pressured quarterbacks. He blew up plays in the backfield. He was everything MSU could’ve wanted out of an end.
Sweat is of course gone now. Though that might could be a devastating blow for many teams to lose a player of Sweat’s caliber, Sweat’s replacement – Bulldog senior defensive end Chauncey Rivers – is ready to start building a reputation all his own.
What’s step one in that process? Rivers says he’s committed to being Chauncey Rivers. He’s not worried about being Montez Sweat.
