SCOOBA – In the eight-year history of the new Sullivan-Windham Field, East Mississippi fans have never left in defeat in the regular season and had lost only once all-time.
The Lions had a 36-game home winning streak inside the friendly confines of this new stadium and the majority of those haven’t even been close. That historic streak came to a crashing halt on Thursday night.
Hosting No. 7 Northwest in a pivotal battle between two of the state’s top teams, the Lions gave up 35 points in the second quarter to dig themselves a deep hole. After closing in on the lead in the third, they couldn’t capitalize in the final frame and saw their national title hopes likely slip away in defeat 56-36.
