Zeke Cook (10) made his return to the court for Starkville High School.

The Nest was as loud as it got all night when Zeke Cook checked in for the first time this season.

Cook and the Starkville Yellow Jackets wrapped up the first round of the Class 6A, Region 3 Tournament with a 82-55 victory over South Panola on Tuesday night.

The Northeast Mississippi Community College signee made his first appearance this season after recovering from a broken foot that was suffered in practice earlier this past October.

With his signature already up in Booneville, Cook could have easily just look ahead to his college career.

That thought never crossed his mind.

“I already knew I was going to come back after my injury,” Cook said. “I always want to be there for my team and I want another ring. There was no way I was going to let this injury stop me.”
