Mississippi State quarterback Tommy Stevens had just lost a fumble.
It was MSU’s season opener back on August 31 in New Orleans and Louisiana just forced what at the time was a key turnover that ended a Bulldog drive.
Ragin’ Cajuns linebacker Chauncey Manac celebrated by getting in Stevens’ face. In the blink of an eye, MSU wide receiver Osirus Mitchell and offensive lineman Tommy Champion rushed to Stevens’ aid and pushed back at Manac.
In the grand scheme of a long football season, the brief episode about 10 days ago might not be long remembered. However it possibly illustrated a vital trait that MSU head coach Joe Moorhead believes this year’s Bulldogs have – togetherness.
