Mississippi State freshman Callie Minshew gets set for the next play during Sunday’s home volleyball match against Florida.

The No. 12 Florida Gators brought a team to Starkville that featured players that stood 6-8, 6-7, 6-6 and others on the court.

Even with that size, the Gators were pushed a bit by the Bulldogs in the third set before Florida won 25-21 and finished off a 3-0 sweep over MSU at Newell Grissom Building.

The Bulldogs were disappointed in the Southeastern Conference loss, but liked the way they competed in the third set.

“Florida is a great team … top 20 and are very big at the net, but I felt in that third set that we really just played fearless,” MSU freshman Callie Minshew said. “We didn’t let their height intimidate us. I’m proud of the way we worked that third set.”
