Registration is now open for Starkville Parks and Recreation Department's new adult kickball league.

Registration costs $100 per team, and teams can sign up at www.starkvilleregistration.com. Registration ends Aug. 31.

SPRD Sports Coordinator William Pochop said eight teams have already shown interest, and he is expecting to have at least 10 teams participate in the league.

"Each team must have at least seven players, and there needs to be the same number of guys and girls on each team because it is a true co-ed league," Pochop said.

Players must be 16 or older, and there is no upper age limit. Pochop said once all the teams have registered, he will contact the coaches to set up practice times.

Pochop said games will start Sept. 10 and will take place weekly for 10 weeks up until Thanksgiving.

"We have a broad array of programs for all ages, and this is something we've been wanting to do for a while because it has been really popular in other places," Pochop said.

Adult kickball will be the eighth in-house sports league that SPRD offers, Pochop said.

Any individuals interested in playing but do not have a team can email Pochop at wpochop@starkvilleparks.com.
