Three injured in Wednesday morning wreck

Three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Mississippi Highway 389 on Wednesday morning.

The wreck, which occurred near Smith Animal Hospital on the stretch of highway sometime around 8 a.m., involved a white multi-seater van and a white Ford SUV. The Ford sustained damage to the rear passenger side and the airbags deployed during the collision.

As for the van, it suffered minor paint damage to the passenger side, but drove headlong into a tree, causing substantial damage to the front of the vehicle.

The airbags for the van did not appear to have deployed.

SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady confirmed three people were transported to OCH for treatment.

All three injured in the collision were riding in the van.

OCH Regional Medical Center EMS Director Michael Hunt confirmed the three people were transported to the hospital and expected to recover.

The Starkville Police Department is currently handling the investigation of the crash.
