The Starkville Parks and Recreation Department will again host the annual Independence Day celebration at the Starkville Sportsplex.

Interim Parks Director Gerry Logan said the evening will be filled with live music, inflatables, food, and fireworks. Attendees are encouraged to wear their red, white and blue, grab a lawn chair or blanket, and bring their family and friends out to enjoy this SPRD tradition.

“This is our department’s largest community event, and we’re excited about the expanded vendor area and additional kids’ activities this year,” Logan said.

Beginning at 5 p.m., there will be six bounce houses available for children and plenty of space to bring frisbees, soccer balls, footballs, and more. The fireworks by Pyro Shows are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.

Pets are welcome, but not encouraged as the fireworks may startle them. If one chooses to bring a pet, they must remain on a leash for the entirety of the event, and owners must also pick up after their pets.

Vendors will include Kona Ice, popcorn from Pop Porium and Dreamland Kettle Corn, barbeque from Big Dawgs BBQ Station 26 and cheese fries and pulled pork sandwiches from Bin 612. Starkville Community Church will be providing free bottled water while supplies last. Indivisible Golden Triangle will be providing free voter registration. Children can get their face painted by Brittany Whitaker for $5.

A full schedule of Independence Day Celebration events includes:
