The West Point Police Department is investigating a Monday evening shooting on Lowe Street that left one man dead.
The WPPD said officers were dispatched at approximately 5:35 p.m. to Lowe Street following a report of a shooting incident.
The department said in a press release that one male is deceased from this incident, but did not release the identity of the victim.
Clay County Coroner Alvin Carter was on scene at the time of this article’s publication and also said he could not provide the victim’s identity.
According to Clay County Jail records, no one had been booked into the county jail on charges that could be related to the shooting.
Late Monday night, the WPPD said the investigation was ongoing and no further information would be released before press time.
