story time

Miss Rainey (Loraine Walker) reads to children in a Cat in the Hat suit for her first in-person story time since March 2020.

Yesterday was a perfect day for Loraine Walker or Miss Rainey, the Children’s Librarian at Starkville Public Library, to have her first in-person story time in a year. She read a few books outside at the Fire Station Park by the Cadence Bank Pavilion at 10 a.m. and again at 4 p.m.

Read Across America Week is occurs every year on the week of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, March 2. During this time, kids get to wear pajamas and other fun outfits to school and there is a big emphasis on Dr. Seuss’s books such as “Cat in the Hat,” “Red Fish Blue Fish” and “Oh! The Places You’ll Go.”
