On Wednesday morning, Starkville Utilities and Tennessee Valley Authority came together to cut the ribbon on the new substation on Azalea Lane. The project has been eight years in the making with two years of planning, and all construction on the site was done by Chandler Construction.
Â
The new substation on Azalea Lane has all modern equipment and a second transmission line to help increase reliability and minimize outages. Starkville Utilities services over 14,000 customers so it is pertinent to have a power source that the community can put their trust in.Â
