Kojack is a German Shorthaired Pointer and nearly two years old, and he is the newest officer to be sworn into duty to protect and serve the people of Starkville. At his ceremony at Fire Station One, Mayor Lynn Spruill read him the oath before he signed with his paw print.

The new K-9 team with SPD consists of Kojack and Corporal Parker Madeen, and while the pair are not the first K-9 unit at SPD, they are the only one of their kind within the department. When choosing which breed to get, a lot of factors are considered.
