Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, a small clinic in Starkville had confirmed more virus cases than each of the surrounding counties.
Dr. Cameron Huxford, owner of the Huxford Clinic on Strange Road, has been conducting drive-thru testing since mid-March.
Huxford said his clinic conducted 19 tests on Wednesday, bringing the overall total to 262 tests conducted since mid-March, counting those done before 4 p.m. yesterday.
The efforts at The Huxford Clinic’s testing have also resulted in 23 positive cases being identified since the pandemic began, which is the single largest total of confirmed cases for one testing site in the county and region, with more confirmed cases identified at the clinic than the next highest county total.
For example, the county with the next highest case total is Monroe, with 19 cases for the entire county.
Oktibbeha County’s total was listed at 30 confirmed cases on Wednesday, with one death and two outbreaks at longterm care facilities.
