The city of Starkville is once again searching for its next parks and recreation director, after its preferred candidate declined the position.
Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill confirmed that Tarpon Springs, Florida Recreation Superintendent Craig Dolan had turned down the position after the Starkville Board of Aldermen unanimously approved his hire at its June 16 meeting.
The job description was posted on the city’s social media pages Monday.
“It’s open until filled, so we thought we would post again and see if we had any interest show up,” Spruill said. “It’s been three months since we did that, and a lot has happened in three months.”
