A Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District employee has been recognized as one of the best in her field this week.
This week the Association of School Business Officials International announced Chief Financial Officer Tammie McGarr as a recipient of one of its Distinguished Eagle Awards given to school business officials across the country for excellence in their fields.
As a recipient, McGarr will be recognized at the organization’s annual conference and expo in National Harbor, Maryland this October. She will also be given a $2,500 college scholarship to present to a deserving student in the district.
“It’s a great honor to be considered for this award, and I’m ecstatic that I was awarded it,” McGarr said. “I couldn’t have done it without the people I work with, so I don’t consider it an award just for me, but it’s an award for our entire district. We all worked hard to get where we’re at.”
McGarr has served as the district’s CFO since 2015, and spent 17 years in the Mississippi State Auditor’s office prior to coming to the district. She is a Eupora native and Mississippi State University alumna.
