The Starkville Police Department’s S.W.A.T. team received a $8,400 grant from the 4-County Foundation to be used to buy protective ballistic plates.

Typically, SPD has to buy new plates every four years which range around an $8,000 to $10,000 price all together.

When SPD applied for this grant, they asked for it on the basis of protective plates that can stop rifle rounds, since the 4-County Foundation picks based what the uses are rather than monetary value.
