On Tuesday afternoon, Starkville Kiwanis hosted another weekly meeting to discuss current club projects and were also joined by City Engineer Edward Kemp to share the details of the Highway 182 BUILD Project taking place in the upcoming years.
Edward Kemp has served as the city engineer and director of the Streets and Engineering Department for the City of Starkville for the past 15 years.
Over the years, Highway 182 has seen many vacant properties, poor roadway conditions, blight, old infrastructure, and crowded overhead utilities that made the area less attractive for private investment.
In the fall of 2013, Starkville was awarded with a $400,000 EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant and was the first major step to help start conversations about the planning and long-term visions for Highway 182.
