OCH Regional Medical Center CEO Jim Jackson gave an update on the hospital’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic Tuesday at the OCH Board of Trustees meeting. Jackson spoke to the recent increase in the number of novel coronavirus patients at the facility, saying many of them had from from other facilities that were being overwhelmed with the number of patients. Jackson and OCH Chief Medical officer Dr. Todd Smith also emphasized that the hospital still had to care for patients admitted for other reasons. The most recent numbers from OCH show 10 novel coronavirus patients in the hospital. The number is down from 14 on Monday. However, the number of patients on ventilators has climbed to four, compared with one ventilated patient on Monday.
