Dan Camp

With the Cotton District Arts Festival on the horizon this Saturday, the Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum currently has an exhibit highlighting the life and legacy of Dan Camp.

Some knew him as a businessman, some knew him as the mayor of Starkville, some knew him as the one who designed the Cotton District, but all knew him as the legendary Dan Camp.

With the Cotton District Arts Festival taking place this Saturday, it is fitting that the Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum holds a public exhibit highlighting Camp’s life and legacy around Starkville.

For those who knew Camp, many could tell stories on how he touched their lives. One of those people is Suzanne Dressel, volunteer helper at the Heritage Museum, when she told the story about when Camp built a house for her and her family back in the 1970s.
