Friends of Starkville Library hosted another monthly book sale from noon until 6 p.m. yesterday at the Starkville Public Library. All books are donated, and this month’s sale featured children’s books, beach reads, and World War II fiction and nonfiction. The book sale occurs on the first Monday of every month, so be sure to stop by and look through an endless variety of books for your next summer read in August.
Friends of the Library have been a part of the Starkville community since the 1980s and serve as a non-profit, charity organization to support the Starkville Public Library. Pat Colwick and Myrna Lott represented Friends of the Library at the book sale and assisted the event. Colwick serves as a board member for the organization and works with other members all month to process donated books and prepare for book sales.
“It’s a delight to be able to make money and give back to the library,” said Colwick.
Along with book sales, Friends of the Library help the library set up interesting themed displays and sponsor various programs that take place at the library.
