This week marks National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, which would normally put the spotlight on dispatchers and 911 operators.
Oktibbeha County Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director Jarvis Boyd said dispatchers are essential to emergency operations running smoothly, but those behind the scenes can easily be overlooked or taken for granted.
“Voices in the dark is what I call them,” Boyd said. “They are in the trenches on a day-to-day basis serving their communities.”
