A few 9th grade students from Armstrong Junior High School placed well in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.
Last semester, AJHS arts teacher Mikel Franklin had a class from last semester where three of his students received some recognition for their submissions into the competition.
Since 1923, Scholastic has awarded students across the country for their incredible submissions to the competitions, providing a segue into recognition, scholarships, and more.
Last year, Franklin’s advanced art class had 14 students awarded for their submissions into the competition, including two who won gold awards. But this year, he did not have an advanced art class, which led him to only have three students recognized for their work.
While he was proud of his three students for being recognized, Franklin did feel like he let his class down.
