Residents in Clay, Choctaw and Noxubee counties may soon have new options for internet service after 4-County Electric announced it would be launching three pilot programs to bring broadband to rural areas.

The three programs, aimed at bringing broadband to western Clay County, northeastern Choctaw County and northern Noxubee County, will be funded with a matching grant program as part of the $65 million Mississippi Electric Cooperatives Broadband COVID-19 Grant Program established by the Legislature in July. The grants are capped at $6 million per co-op, and 4-County said it would be putting an additional $7 million toward the programs.
