A special meeting of city and county officials came to an abrupt close Thursday night after the Board of Aldermen lost their quorum — the minimum number of members needed to be present for a meeting to be valid.
Vice Mayor and Ward 6 Alderman Roy A.’ Perkins and Ward 7 Alderman Henry Vaughn were absent from the meeting.
Ward 3 Alderman David Little joined via phone call. When the phone call dropped, aldermen were forced to adjourn.
Since this was a three-way meeting, with the Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors and representatives from the Oktibbeha County Economic Development Authority also present, the forced adjournment brought the entire meeting to a close.
Staff from the Golden Triangle Development LINK were also present at the meeting. Attorney Chris Pace, who spoke on behalf of the LINK, said NDAs prevented those involved from revealing many details of the meeting.
Regarding the meeting's purpose, Pace said the three bodies were present to discuss two economic development projects but declined to give further details.
