Sitel to employ at least 400 by October's end

By the end of October, officials with call center operator Sitel hope to have at least 400 employees at their Starkville location, an official said Thursday.
The center – located in the Thad Cochran Research, Technology and Economic Development Park – now has about 200 employees, said Kendall Williams, site director for the Starkville facility.
"We've been in a constant ramp mode for the past three to four weeks," Williams said Thursday afternoon.
In January, the company announced approximately 250 employees would be let go.
"Fortunately, we are rehiring those that fit the profile for the new work that is coming in," he said. "I'm just thrilled we'll be adding several hundred jobs to the area. This will give us the ability to strengthen our brand here and to rebound from the layoffs that took place a few months ago."
In announcing the hiring moves, Sitel officials said in a statement the company has added more than 110 full-time jobs in the past month with another 300 expected by October's end. Williams said the facility should be at or above 400 employees by that time.
Sitel officials say they are actively looking for technical, customer care, concierge and sales professionals to support an electronics manufacturer, a retail chain and a U.S. financial services provider.
On top of the addition of personnel, Williams said: "We are right in the throes of a facility upgrade." Crews have redone the receptionist area, and the upgrades include new carpet, flat-screen television, seating and track lighting, he said. The break room has been reworked and workers have built a miniature conference room, giving "our agents a smaller space" in which to meet, Williams said.
The company is drawing prospective employees through several means, including local advertisements, word-of-mouth campaigns and networking through the Society for Human Resource Management, Sitel officials said in the statement.
