Several Starkville Academy athletes qualify for North track meet

Several Starkville Academy athletes saw success at the District 2-AAA track meet on Saturday and have advanced to the North State meet next week.

On the boys side, A.J. Willard and Dylan Miller are moving on in the distance events of the 3,200-meter run and 1,600-meter run, while the 3,200-meter relay team of Andrew Pollan, Gus Kovia, Willard and Miller move on.
Brady Richardson advanced in the high jump and triple jump, while Tylor Latham and Nason Heflin in the long jump, and Matt Miller also qualified for North in triple jump.

In other field events, Walker Tranum qualified for North in shot put and Garrett Lewis in discus.

Pollan advanced in the 800-meter run, Jacob Crittenden moved on in the 110-meter hurdles, Jonathan Latham advanced in 300-meter hurdles, Ben Brown qualified in the 400-meter dash and Sam Clark moved on in the 100-meter dash.

The boys 4x200, 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams also advanced. Taylor Arnold was on the 4x200 and 4x100 teams, while Sam Clark, Campbell Spivey, Heflin and Miller were all on the relay teams that advanced. Members of the 4x400 unit are Brodie Pierce, Latham, Richardson and Pollan.

On the girls side, JonHayden Hancock won the district 100-meter dash and also advanced for North in the 200-meter dash, while Lilee Alpe moved on in the high jump, triple jump, 300-meter hurdles and as a member of the 4x800 and 4x400 meter relay squads. Laura Guyton Martin was also a member of the 4x400 relay team that advanced and also advanced in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles. The other members of the 4x800 team were Meredith Reed, Anna Claire Heflin and Jordan Crowley, while the members of the 4x100 and 4x200 teams that advanced are Aubree Campbell, Mary Margaret McReynolds, Milla Davis and Hancock. The other members of the 4x400 meter relay are Erin Lyle, Reed and Martin.

In distance, Crowley and Heflin advanced in the 3,200-meter run, while Crowley also made it in the 1,600-meter run along with Sadie Strickland. Heflin and Strickland also advanced in the 800-meter run.

Crowley won the long jump, while Hancock also advanced in the long jump. Alpe and Davis move on in the triple jump.

Austin Tucker and Madeline Kelly qualified for North in discus, while Austin Tucker moved on in shot put.
